Some of the University of Miami’s biggest sports legends descended upon Islamorada for three days of fun and fishing. Held June 25-27, the 2026 Fan Fest and Celebrity Fishing Tournament began with a party and meet-and-greet at the Ocean View Inn & Sports Pub, owned by Gary Dunn, UM alum and Super Bowl champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fans and locals had the chance to meet Jimmy Johnson, two-time national champion coach with the University of Miami and Super Bowl-winning coach with the Dallas Cowboys; and Hurlie Brown, Ricou deShaw, Randal “Thrill” Hill and Mark Cooper. A captain’s gathering was held on June 26 at Three Waters Resort, and the fishing and weigh-in took place the following day at the resort. The star-studded event was sponsored by Spencer “CaneDoc” & Martha Kellogg and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
