Marathon’s Sombrero Beach had some early visitors on the morning of Sept. 17, as U.S. Border Patrol officials announced they had taken 43 Cuban migrants into custody after a wooden fishing vessel reached the shore. In a post on X, interim Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agent Andrew Scharnweber confirmed the landing of the blue-and-white vessel with ‘Habana’ written on the stern. ‘We appreciate the support from responding agencies,’ Scharnweber said.
