ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Marquisha Abraham

What do you enjoy about being on the tennis team? I enjoy talking to all of my teammates, all while improving my tennis abilities. I take notes from the coaches and apply myself.

How long have you been playing on the team? This is my second year playing on the MHS tennis team. I’ve been playing tennis since I was little, and so when I was in eighth grade I wanted to put my skills to the test and compete at a higher level.

Describe one of your best moments in athletics. One of my most memorable moments was when I won my first game. It was against a girl from Westminster. I had my first win and my first game all in one.  It really set the stage for what I wanted to do as a tennis player.

Coach Richard says … “ Keep at it.” Whenever our coach says this, it motivates me to do better, especially whenever I am struggling. It gives me that energy to continue playing to the best of my ability. Whenever I “keep at it,” I always come back with positive results.
