A Boston man sent law enforcement on a chase through the Upper Keys during the early morning hours of Jan. 6.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a report came in regarding a reckless U-Haul driver near MM 95 in Key Largo just after 7 a.m. The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Idibek Jalilov, of Boston, drove past deputies in a school zone at MM 90. As he drove by, deputies say, he gave them the middle finger.
Jalilov was seen impeding traffic, following too closely and speeding, among other violations. Deputies say Jalilov did not stop after the sheriff’s office activated lights and sirens until about MM 85. He was ultimately handcuffed and taken to the Plantation Key jail.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers assisted. No injuries were reported.
