CHAMPIONS FOR CHANGE ARE HEADED TO D.C.

The Marathon High School Champions for Change (CFC) club was met with well-deserved support in their presentation to the Marathon Rotary Club on Jan. 19. Together with their Educational Coalition for Monroe County advisors Tina Belotti and Dr. Christina Belotti, MHS students Leo Volchek and Billy Martin discussed an upcoming Washington, D.C. trip for seven of the CFC youth leaders where they will participate in a conference presented by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA). The conference is part of CADCA’s Youth Leadership Initiative and includes workshops and interaction with lawmakers. The MHS students will be called upon to present their prevention projects to the 35,000 conference attendees. After discussing the importance of the trip, the students said they sought to raise $2,000 to help club members with travel costs. Brian Tewes and Tewes Mortgage immediately answered the call and agreed to fund the entire request. Pictured, from left, are Christina Belotti, Volchek, Martin, Tewes and Tina Belotti.
