The Key West City Commission on Tuesday named Commissioner Jimmy Weekley as liaison to the City’s Charter and District Boundary Review Committee. The committee was convened in order to review the City’s Charter and the makeup of the six districts within the city to ensure they represent the community accurately. Every decade the City looks at redistricting based upon the federal census results. The Committee meets next on Wednesday, July 28 at 5 pm in Old City Hall. Ken Small, of the Florida League of Cities, will be talk to the Committee about different forms of local government. In addition, he will answer any questions they may have about charter in other cities. The meeting is open to the public, and anyone interested in following this process is encouraged to attend. The Committee meets twice a month: on the second Thursday at 1 pm and the Fourth Thursday at 5 pm. All of the meetings are held at Old City Hall at 510 Greene Street.
