A record was set by one member of the Coral Shores track and field team during competition at the Spartan Invitational at Southridge Park in Miami on Feb. 26.
Competing in the discus throw was senior Riley Dobson. Her throw was measured at 84 feet and 22 inches, which gave her the school record.
In other events, the Canes 4×100 girls relay team placed third with a time of 52.96 seconds. The relay team was composed of Lucia Rodriguez, Terran Clayton, Alexis Terry and Maya Gadea.Â
Alison Woltanski accomplished a personal record of 18.10 seconds, coming in 15th place in the 100-meter hurdle. Rodriguez ran her personal record of 28.46 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Lilly Trumbull accomplished a personal record of 2 minutes and 56 seconds in the 800-meter run. Alexis Terry came in 19th place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.80 seconds.Â
As for the boys, Simon Gutierrez accomplished his personal record of 5 minutes and 14 seconds in the 1600-meter run. Gutierrez also ran a personal record of 11 minutes and 45 seconds in the 3200-meter run.Â
Chris Cooper achieved a personal record of 23.79 seconds in the 200-meters, while Javier Hernandez also hit a personal record of 23.83 seconds in the 200-meters. Sadier Hernandez ran a new personal record of 57.20 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
The boys 4×100 team finished fifth with a time of 46.52 seconds. The team included Sadier Hernandez, Willie Godtel, Javier Hernandez, and Cooper.Â
Aaron Anstett placed 15th in the discus throw at 100 feet and 26 inches.
The track and field team will have its next meet at home against Barbara Goleman High School on March 9 at 3 p.m.
