COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT WELCOMES NEW FINANCE DIRECTOR

Superintendent Theresa Axford recently announced that Charlene White was selected  to become the Monroe County School District’s executive director of finance and performance.  

She holds a doctorate of higher education and adult education leadership, a master’s degree in accountancy and a cum laude bachelor’s in business administration and accounting from the University of Tennessee. 

“We are very fortunate to have Dr. Charlene White join our team,” Axford said. “Her experience and positive energy will enhance our finance, MIS and risk management departments greatly so that they continue the superior work which they are doing at this time.”

At Dyersburg State Community College in Dyersburg, Tennessee, White served eight years as the finance manager and then five years as the vice president for finance and administrative services. As vice president, she carried out business and financial operations along with coordinating budgets and treasurer functions of the many institutional departments, boards, committees and plan development at the college. 

Her work experience includes principal consultant with Banner Finance, senior accountant at Sara Lee Food and Beverage and other accounting, consulting, directing and owner/operating positions. Her assignment of vice president of finance and administrative services at the College of The Florida Keys helped her realize that Key West is the destination she would like to continue her career.  She was introduced at the recent MCSD board meeting and will begin her new role on Jan. 8, 2024.
