The totally-serious senior prom court includes, from left, Mason Thornton, Traes Nethery, Zyan Wiggins, Angie Figaro, Samantha Schofield, Haley Price, Astro Gonzalez and Leonardo Mendez.

On Saturday, May 10, juniors and seniors at Marathon High School will choose their Prom Queen and King during A Night Under the Stars. Already selected by a survey of their peers, this year’s court is full of plenty of jokers, senior class sponsor Rob Driscoll told the Weekly, and that should make for some tight competition.

“It’s a shame we don’t give out a Prom Court Jester award, because THAT would be a close race,” he said.

Before the royalty got glammed up in their best black-tie attire, we paid a visit to Marathon High School to learn their favorite memories over the years at MHS, and why they think they earned the nod in 2025.

Leonardo Mendez

Favorite Marathon memory: Winning the first district championship in baseball at Marathon High School in 46 years.

Nominated because: I’m just a chill guy.

Mason Thornton

Favorite Marathon memory: Pitching against Ransom Everglades three times my senior year, and beating them every single time.

Nominated because: People felt bad that I lost Homecoming King, so that’s why I got nominated for prom.

Traes Neathery

Favorite Marathon memory: Grad Bash – traveling to Universal Studios in Orlando and staying in the park all night.

Nominated because: I’m as handsome as it gets.

Astro Gonzalez

Favorite Marathon memory: Being able to do my first-ever pull-up in the lunch room. The Navy was here, and nobody thought I could do it. I did one, and they all cheered for me. Couldn’t do two.

Nominated because: I’ve always got a good outfit on.

Angie Figaro

Favorite Marathon memory: Riding the Hulk at Grad Bash and my friend Jamie fainted.

Nominated because: People think I’m funny.

Samantha Schofield

Favorite Marathon memory: All the Homecoming float-building, especially this year when we made a life-sized Woody from “Toy Story.”

Nominated because: My sister texted me and said “I’m making all my friends put you down.” I ended up on the court because everyone just started putting my name down from our friend group.

Zyan Wiggins

Favorite Marathon memory: Working on musical productions.

Nominated because: I put myself down as a joke. And now I have to commit.

Haley Price

Favorite Marathon memory: Cheering under Friday Night Lights.

Nominated because: People say I talk a lot.

Ella Dunn

Favorite Marathon memory: The Sea Perch Project I was a part of in sixth grade with Mr. Driscoll. He was a brand-new teacher at the time, and we almost set two fires and got to test out projects at the Founders Park pool.

Nominated because: I didn’t actually run for Prom Queen, but I’m so excited I was nominated because it’s one of my last hurrahs before I graduate.

Adrien Holdinga

Favorite Marathon memory: Running in the state meet during cross country my senior year.

Nominated because: People know I have a pink suit.
