The Weekly has teamed up with local author David Sloan to sneak peek his new book “The Key West Bucket List,” available in bookstores now. Each week, we’ll feature an item on the bucket list (hey, you can even tear out the page, take it to town and check the item off yourself), which can serve as a daring weekend diversion.

3 RUN A ZERO-K

What’s the deal? The Cow Key Channel Bridge Run (cowkeybridgerun.com) is the world’s first zero-k. The local-heavy event blends costumes and creativity into a moo-ving experience where participants cross one of the shortest bridges in the Keys, then celebrate the accomplishment with a parade, after-party and award ceremony. The event started as a humorous alternative to the challenging 7-Mile Bridge Run. A different bovine-inspired theme is introduced each year, and a portion of proceeds benefit the Monroe County Sheriff’s Animal Farm.

Do it if: You want to cross a bridge in the Keys without breaking a sweat, and get a T-shirt to prove it.

Skip it if: You are a cow-ard.

Local Advice: Park at Marriott Beachside and pre-game with a cocktail at their pool bar. Register in advance so you can win a Golden Calf Award — winning one is a local badge of honor.
