Richard J. Toppino was recently elected chairman of the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA) board.
Toppino originally was appointed on Dec. 4, 2015 by then-Gov. Rick Scott to serve as a member of the FKAA board. He was elected vice chairman in January 2017, a position he held until being named chairman on Jan. 7.
“The chairman is a position of power and prestige,” Toppino said. “So, I’m certainly going to respect and uphold its values to make this company one of the best in producing drinkable water. The past folks in this position were people of honor and integrity. I will certainly maintain the same values. The men and women that sit on our board are … intelligent. They bring a wealth of career experience to each meeting and crises that arise. It’s an absolute honor to serve on the board of the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority.”
Toppino is the president of Charley Toppino and Sons Inc. and Monroe Concrete Products Inc. He also is on the board for the Lower Florida Keys Hospital District and is on the advisory board for Truist Bank.
Other FKAA board members are J. Robert Dean, vice chairman; Cara Higgins, secretary/treasurer; Antoinette M. Appell and Nicholas Mulick.
