HEAD-ON COLLISION IN ISLAMORADA SENDS ONE TO THE HOSPITAL

A portion of U.S. 1 in Islamorada was shut down for roughly an hour on April 4 after a head-on collision at MM 86 sent one driver to the hospital.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a white Ford truck and a Toyota SUV collided on the Overseas Highway around 3:25 p.m.. The driver of the Toyota, a male, was transported to Jackson South Medical Center in Miami. FHP said he suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford truck was uninjured in the crash. 

Southbound traffic was diverted as first responders and investigators responded to the scene.
