The Historical Preservation Society of the Upper Keys will recount a major hurricane that hit the Upper Keys some 65 years ago.
Set for Monday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at Coral Isles Church on Plantation Key, the program “Hurricane Donna-1960” will show photos of the devastation from the storm. Making landfall Sept. 10, 1960, the eye crossed Craig Key and Long Key. Winds reached 145 mph — the most severe since the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane hit the Upper Keys.
