High-octane enthusiasts made their way to Town Square mall on the morning of April 20 to vie for the top prize in the Keys Young Professionals Network’s inaugural ‘Be Like Mike’ summer car show and benefit. Named after the late Monroe County commissioner and Islamorada restaurateur Mike Forster, proceeds from the event supported United Way’s Feed the Keys summer initiative for local families. Support from Centennial Bank, Coca-Cola, Seafarer Realty and the Middle and Lower Keys Association of Realtors helped 25 show entrants and dozens of visitors raise $789 to go with 200 pounds of donated food.

“We had support from Miami all the way down to Key West with participating vehicles,” said show organizer Alexia Mann. “The food drive goes through May 17 and all donations and funds stay in the Keys. If you missed the car show, you can still donate towards the food drive.”
