Rumors circulated again regarding a threat of violence at Coral Shores High School, this time on May 20 before a senior send-off parade organized by parents.

It’s the second such threat that students say were rumored on social media platforms. In a Facebook post on May 20, school officials said the high school has not received a threat, but kids are reporting rumors in their chats.

“We take this very seriously and are investigating with the sheriff’s office,” the post read.

Adam Linhardt, public information officer for the sheriff’s office, said on May 24 that an investigation into the threat is ongoing.

“It was apparently on several social media platforms,” he said

Escalating rumors of violence among students first circulated on social media on May 12, and it left the halls of Coral Shores High School largely empty on May 13. According to the school and the sheriff, the perceived threat was unsubstantiated.

The last day of school is Friday, May 27. Seniors concluded their studies the week before. A graduation ceremony was held May 25 at the football field.
