KEEP KEY WEST BEAUTIFUL: APRIL CLEANUP SCHEDULE

Ploggers met at City Hall for the April 1 cleanups on United Street and the cross streets. They were joined by Mayor Teri Johnston and six guest ploggers who were visiting Key West and ‘wanted to give back while they were visiting our beautiful city’ after reading about the effort in the Key West Weekly. One hour a week makes a huge difference, and volunteers are always welcome every Friday morning, when teams clean up a designated area of the island.

Twenty-two volunteers on April 1 gathered 40 pounds of trash, 11 pounds of recycling and two gallons of cigarette butts in an hour. Please see the schedule here for the next cleanup – and remember, Earth Day is April 22 and full details of the events for that day are coming soon.

All are invited to join the Friday morning cleanups from 8 to 9 a.m.

Parking is provided and all volunteers receive a 24-hour bus pass in exchange for their time.

Early Bird Cleanups take place in the following locations for April:

Friday, April 8 — Donald Avenue & 16th Terrace

Friday, April 15 — Custom House on Front Street

Friday, April 22 — Venetian Drive/Airport Blvd. (Stay tuned for more Earth Day events.)

Friday, April 29 — Simonton BeachFor more information, or to volunteer, call Dorian Patton at 305-809-3782.
