The Key West community paused for a bit on Saturday, Jan. 10 to celebrate the life of the late City Commissioner Mary Lou Hoover, who passed away in November after a long illness.

Hoover’s daughter, Ashley Hoover Bowmer; her brother, Bill Pohrer, and her husband, Charlie Waite, spoke at the Key West Amphitheater event, which was attended by local dignitaries, commissioners, candidates and constituents as well as a trio of female friends known as the Ya Yas, composed of Sherrie Downie, Susan Jorgensen and Cindy Thompson.
