The Monroe County Department of Health has confirmed that all five Publix grocery stores, including the one in Marathon, and the Winn-Dixie grocery stores in Key West and Tavernier will be receiving allotments of COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccines are being allotted under the Federal Pharmacy Program late this week, the agency said, but could not confirm how many doses of the vaccine will be shipped or when they will be offered to the public.
According to a Miami news source, 1 million doses of the vaccine were shipped to Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies in Florida this week under the same federal program mentioned above.
Again, it’s unclear how many vaccines will be available in the Keys.
Also, the online Publix vaccination registration time has been moved back an hour from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Online registration is Wednesday and Friday mornings at publix.com/covid-vaccine/florida.
To register for a vaccine from Winn-Dixie, visit www.winndixie.com/pharmacy/covid-vaccine. At presstime, the registration platform is visible but inactive.
To be eligible for a vaccine in Florida, patients must be a resident of Florida, 65 years or older, or a health care worker with direct patient contact or working or living in an assisted living facility.
