The Village of Islamorada will hold a celebration of the first Art in Public Buildings exhibit on Friday, Dec. 19 from 5 to 6 p.m.
The evening will include a toast to the 14 Islamorada artists whose works are on display – in the Ron Levy Aquatic Center, the Founders Park Community Room and Village Hall – until March 2026. No RSVP is required.
Wine will be available for purchase, benefiting Islamorada Community Entertainment, and food trucks will be on-site.
The Islamorada Art in Public Buildings program is a new initiative of the village, organized by cultural arts coordinator Emily Rother. Through partnerships with local artists and arts organizations, the village’s public spaces have become art gallery spaces — with paintings, photographs and prints by local artists.
Rother creates opportunities to showcase the culture and artists who live and work in Islamorada. Many of the works are for sale; interested persons may contact the artists directly.
Featured artists include Araña Glass, Beth Kaminstein, Bev Blitzer, Chadley Mominee, Cindy Mominee, EmmaNorthMich, Jill Zima Borski, Kelly Walkotten, Lisa Lee, Monica Bankowski, Pasta Pantaleo, Paula Friedman, Ramon Luis Núñez and Tim Borski.
The opening reception takes place before the Beats on the Bay Music Series at Founders Park. Set for 6:30 p.m., music will be played from Steve Venni as the opening act, followed by The Bruce Tribute.
