Hi, friends! Reef the fox here with your weekly “Reef’s Report.” Pawsitive Beginnings just turned 5 years old on March 18. That’s right, five whole years of saving foxes, spreading kindness and giving me the pampered life I obviously deserve.

I’ve been here long enough to know that this place is special. It’s not just about rescuing foxes like me from bad situations (although, trust me, we needed saving). It’s about second chances, healing and showing the world that animals like me are someone, not something. And let’s be real, without Pawsitive Beginnings, you all would’ve missed out on the best fox personality to ever exist.

A quick history lesson: Once upon a time, my fellow fox friends and I were in danger, trapped in tiny cages, never knowing what grass felt like or how fun it is to zoom around like maniacs. Then along came my mom, Nicole Navarro, swooping in and saying, “Not on my watch!” She started rescuing us from the fur trade, giving us soft beds, tasty treats and, most importantly, all the love and attention we could ever want.

Over the last five years, this place has become more than a sanctuary. It’s a healing den, not just for foxes but for humans, too. People come here when they need comfort, hope or just a moment to breathe. And guess what? We foxes are amazing at helping them feel better. I mean, who wouldn’t feel better watching my majestic zoomies?

What’s next? Now that we’ve hit this big milestone, I expect Pawsitive Beginnings to keep growing. I overheard my mother talking about a new baby fox (I hope I was dreaming), more education and more therapy sessions with me as the star. I have a brand to maintain, after all.

So, to everyone who has supported us these past five years, whether you’ve donated, volunteered, visited or just cheered us on, you’re part of this story, too. You’re helping foxes like me live our best lives, and for that, I give you my highest honor: an imaginary high-five from my very cute paw.

Don’t forget, Friday, March 21, is our collaborative comedy show fundraiser with the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center. Gwen Filosa and two of her funniest friends from Comedy Key West will be bringing laughter to the Upper Keys at the Murray Nelson Government Center, all to raise money for the foxes and the birds.

If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, don’t worry. Tickets will be available at the door starting at 5:30 p.m. General admission is $25, or you can get a two-drink ticket with admission for $35.

Anywho, that’s all for this week. Until next time, Reef, over and out!

Reef the Fox
Reef was born on a fur farm on or around March 28, 2021. He was able to be rescued when his mother and siblings started to reject him. Reef is missing toes on his front, right paw and the tip of his tail is missing due to injuries sustained in his short time on the fur farm. Reef arrived at Key Largo on May 6, 2021 by Nicole Navarro, of Pawsitive Beginnings Inc.
