On March 7, Robyn Still, left and her campaign treasurer Joanne Zimmerman paid a visit to the Supervisor of Elections office to become the first candidate to officially file for the 2022 Marathon City Council race. Appointed in January to fill the council seat left vacant by Trevor Wofsey’s resignation, Still will continue to serve on the council until the November election. “I said I was ready to jump in with both feet when I was applying for the seat and that is exactly what happened,” said Still. “Actually serving on city council has made me even more confident in my intention to continue to serve the people of Marathon. I have spent my life in public service. I am not the kind of woman who sits back and complains about the issues. I am about taking action to address the complicated issues of our city. I want to build on what we are doing right, and to find new ideas to address the things that aren’t working.” A co-owner of The Tackle Box with her husband Chris, Still comes from a 22-year career in law enforcement, which she says provided her with “extensive experience in creating and implementing public policy.”
Four Marathon City Council seats will be up for grabs on Nov. 8. If a change to Marathon’s city charter passes by popular vote to increase city council terms to four years, the top three vote getters will serve for four years, while the elected candidate with the fewest votes will serve a shorter three-year term to synchronize the expiration of councilman Luis Gonzalez’s current term.
