Take Stock in Children Monroe recently announced the enrollment of 93 new scholars, marking the highest number of new participants in the program’s history. The milestone represents an investment of nearly $2 million in Florida Prepaid scholarships, providing these students with the opportunity to pursue their dreams of higher education.

The 93 new scholars range from grades 6 to 11 and represent nine county schools. The program’s mentors hail from public and private institutions, local businesses and include retired professionals. These mentors will engage in one-on-one sessions on a weekly basis during the school day.

“I take immense pleasure in thinking about the influence these new mentors will bring to each new mentee. Some 93 families just received a new pulse of energy and mentor support. The conversations to come will be life-changing, stars in a cloudy sky,” said John Padget, Monroe County Education Foundation president emeritus.

By pairing students with mentors, providing college scholarships, and supporting them throughout their academic journey, Take Stock in Children Monroe empowers students to achieve their potential and become the leaders of tomorrow. Take Stock Monroe is the flagship program of the Monroe County Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

The program aims to foster personal growth, develop self-confidence and build self-advocacy skills in its scholars as they strive to reach their goal of a college education or career certification. More information is available from executive director Chuck Licis-Masson at chuck.licis@monroecountyedfound.com or 305-293-1546 or at monroecountyedfound.com.
