The Florida Keys Watercolor Society kicked off its 38th annual Judged Exhibition on March 1 with an opening reception in the main gallery of the Marathon Community Theater, MM 49.5 ocean ( behind La Niña Restaurant). Over 150 people enjoyed an evening of hors d’oeuvres, music, raffle prizes and an award ceremony. Attendees had a chance to meet the artists.

Over 55 paintings are on display, by artists from the Keys chain of islands. All work is for sale, with 20% of the price going to the theater as a gesture of artists helping the arts. Viewers can see the exhibit before the curtain and during intermissions of the musical “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying,” every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening through April 4. Daytime viewing is each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a member of the society there to greet you.

The exhibit includes three original watercolor paintings for this year’s raffle. Proceeds from the raffle go toward the Florida Keys Watercolor Society scholarship fund. Visit FKWCS.com for more information or call 609-231-7045. For tickets to the musical, call the box office at 305-743-0994.
