“We see nothing other than him continuing to grow as a player and as a leader of our team.” – Conchs head coach Dexter Butler

Key West’s James Osborne may be only a sophomore, but he is already shouldering a large portion of the Conchs’ leadership duties, and he is doing it flawlessly. Coach Dexter Butler was clear that Osborne is held to the highest standards, and the young athlete has been delivering.

“James is a player that we have made it clear to him that expectations for him will be high his entire career at KWHS,” said Butler. “He has answered the bell to every challenge put in front of him, and his strong start to this season is proof of that.”

Further proof was his performance at the Atocha Island New Year’s Classic, at which he scored 58 points for the Conchs, helping to deliver the team to the finals. This season he leads the team in points per game with 17.5. He also leads in assists and steals and is second in rebounding. The versatile hoopster has 193 points to his name this season and he is just warming up. For his stellar performance on court and willingness to do what it takes to take his team to the next level, James Osborne is the Keys Weekly Athlete of the Week.
