July Fourth festivities saw patriotic parades, picnics and parties and fireworks displays from Key Largo to Key West.
KEY WEST
The city and the Rotary Club of Key West’s Independence Day celebration started early in the morning on July 4 and lasted well past dark, when the smoke from the fireworks display cleared.
Thousands of residents and visitors lined the island’s southern edge to watch the fireworks off Edward B. Knight Pier, after the Rotary Club hosted its annual, family-friendly cookout for families.

MARATHON
Festivities on the Fourth start with the Rotary Club of Marathon’s annual Fourth of July parade, lining Sombrero Beach Road from Marathon High School to the Sombrero Beach traffic circle with patriotic trailers, golf carts, cars, bikes and walkers.

UPPER KEYS
Key Largo Chamber of Commerce’s 49th annual Fourth of July parade brought plenty of floats, classic and convertible cars and super soaker battles. Spectators lined both sides of U.S. 1, ready to receive candy while engaging in some water warfare. Led by motorcycles from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, more than 90 parade entrants rolled and strolled up the highway. Coral Shores Principal Laura Lietaert was grand marshal. The parade also saw a pair of F-16s flying overhead.
