Kelly’s Caribbean Bar, Grill and Brewery

The libations column wouldn’t have any credibility if it didn’t feature the island’s only restaurant and brewery — Kelly’s Caribbean.

Kelly’s Caribbean Bar, Grill and Brewery’s happy hour is 4-7 p.m. every day of the entire year and is epic for its extremely marked down quality libations and bar food. Twelve-ounce micro brews are only $2 during happy hour and they feature the bar’s custom beers made on site. Havana Red Ale — as red as its name — has a nice bite with a smooth aftertaste. The Golden Ale from Kelly’s is a lighter beer packed with zest and carefully crafted from their brew master who comes down from Miami. The Clipper Wheat is on the other side of the spectrum, a bit heavier and darker. Kelly’s has a beer for everybody.

Well drinks are heavily reduced during happy hour, as well, to $3. There is a large assortment of spirits and also somebody ready to take your order, different than some of the crowded bars on Duval.

Established in 1992, the restaurant has had the same owner for more than two decades.

“We have been open so long because we provide great service,” said Manager Chuck Bryant who has been managing the place since 1997.

During happy hour, there are five small plates priced under $6 — wings, fish tacos, cheese and Havana Red Ale beer dip with pretzel bread, smoked fish dip and nachos. Kelly’s is located at 301 Whitehead St. and is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
