ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Adrian Holdinga

Adrian Holdinga
8th Grade / Tennis

What do you enjoy about being on the tennis team? I love being able to compete. It’s fun having that chance of winning, so I am always going for that chance.

How long have you been playing on the team? I started tennis when I was 6 years old. At 12, I joined the Marathon tennis team. My dad and I had always played together, and I began loving the competition. Now we can’t even compete together because I’ve gotten too good for him to play.

Describe one of your best moments in athletics. My favorite moments are whenever I ace my opponents. I feel good and proud of myself because aces are free points. You get an ace whenever you serve or hit the ball across the net so fast or well that they can not get a racket on it.

Coach Richard says … “Don’t hit a bad ball toss.” This is something my coach says a lot, and it pertains a lot to me. Whenever I listen to his advice about this issue I always get further in my game. It is a helpful saying.
