HABITAT FOR HUMANITY VOLUNTEERS MAKE CRITICAL HOME REPAIRS

From left, Detective Wendy Negron, Sgt. Lakesha Grant, Sgt. Linda Mixon, Habitat for Humanity construction manager Dan Livingston, Deputy Sonya Morgan, Deputy Michael Watkins and Habitat for Humanity construction assistant Curtis Barlow (seated).

Aided by deputies, detectives and sergeants from Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Habitat for Humanity’s construction team completed the second portion of a home repair on Stock Island last week, installing a lift and building a custom ramp for a local homeowner.

This repair will allow a local resident to maintain access to the home, something most of us take for granted. With their Neighbors Helping Neighbors program, funded in part by the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, Habitat makes critical repairs for low-income residents of the Lower Keys, with a focus on safety and accessibility.
