In the Florida Keys, in nearly every political race, the Aug. 18 primary election will determine who governs Key West and Monroe County.
Hometown! will hold its primary election candidate forum on Monday, July 13 at the Tennessee Williams Theatre on the Key West campus of the College of the Florida Keys. The event is free and open to the public.
Candidates for one county commission race, two school board races, three Key West city commission races and the Key West mayor’s race will be featured, along with the two Key West Utility Board races.
Doors open at 4 p.m. for a public meet-and-greet with the candidates. The forum begins at 4:30 p.m. A cash bar will be available.
Panelists include Mandy Miles, editor of Key West Weekly; John Carroll, editor of the Key West Citizen; Joe Moore, news director at US1 Radio; Richard Fowler, former judge and attorney; and Bryan Green, community leader.
Hometown! is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to informing voters and strengthening civic engagement. Its mission is to provide trusted, fair and nonpartisan opportunities for voters to hear directly from the candidates and make informed decisions at the ballot box.
A recording will be available to Hometown! supporters shortly after the event, followed by its public release on the group’s website and social media channels.
