Key West did what it does best on July 25, when nearly 300 people packed the Key West Theater for the 13th annual Bubbas: Key West People’s Choice Awards.
Political divides were pushed aside for a few hours at the awards show that combined comedy, satire, friendly roasts and, of course, nearly 100 Bubba Awards given out to honor the people, programs and places that make Key West special.
As always, all proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships helped a local charity. This year’s beneficiary was AHEC, which provides free medical and dental care to all Monroe County kids.
The Keys Weekly congratulates all the winners and nominees, and thanks the community for supporting its locally owned newspaper.
