IN PICTURES: 7 MILE SANTACON BRINGS THE NORTH POLE TO THE TROPICS

“North Pole or Bust!” There’s plenty of room in Santa’s workshop for hippie vans.

Unsuspecting bar patrons may have wondered what hit them as a wave of Kris Kringles, reindeer, candy canes and elves descended on five Middle Keys locations for the second annual 7 Mile SantaCon on Dec. 6.

With a signature drink awaiting them at Florida Keys Aquarium Encounters, the Island Fish Company, Sparky’s Landing, Key Colony Beach Realty and Havana Jack’s Oceanside Restaurant, revelers spent an afternoon trying to assemble their best hand on the five-stop poker run. Thanks to the generosity of Marathon Bikeworks, partygoers were treated to holiday-decorated bicycles to transition safely from stop to stop and enjoy the day’s beautiful weather.

“We had more than 70 poker cards turned in, and our SantaCon participants brought the party everywhere they went in this amazing event,” said Marathon Chamber CEO Daniel Samess. “Some of them had never visited the businesses who hosted us, so it was a bonus to be able to introduce them to some of our favorite spots in town.”
