The Coral Shores Hurricanes varsity football team opened the season with a scoring barrage in a win against Varela, 48-0, at Barley Stadium on Aug. 26. Senior running back Chuck Jacobsen punched in three touchdowns for the ’Canes. The Hurricanes, 1-0, return home on Friday, Sept. 2 to face Palmer Trinity, 1-0. The Falcons are coming off a 51-0 win against BridgePrep Village Green last week.

Jim McCarthy is one of the many who escaped the snow and frigid temperatures in Western New York. A former crime & court reporter and city editor for two Western New York newspapers, Jim has been honing his craft since he graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2014. In his 5-plus years in the Keys, Jim has enjoyed connecting with the community. Jim is past president of the Key Largo Sunset Rotary Club.
