Local ladies enjoy a Girls Night Out happy hour.

Artists. Writers. Chefs. Realtors. Retirees. Attorneys. Contractors. Nurses. Business owners. General managers. Bankers. Volunteers. Hoteliers. Pharmacists and Philanthropists.

All of the above and many more Key West women descended Monday on the stately Gardens Hotel for the latest Girls Night Out happy hour networking event and fundraiser.

Organized by Sue Puskedra, Amy Jamison and Sharon Lehmann of Susie’s Estate Sales and hosted by Gardens Hotel proprietess Kate Miano, the event brought local women together while the $5 entry donation benefitted the Scleroderma Foundation. Lehmann lost her daughter Carmen to the rare disease and continues to raise money and awareness for research and a cure.

Girls Night Out welcomes professional women from all walks of life to a happy hour event every few months. Find them on Facebook for the next event.

"Local news is crucial," she says. "It informs and connects a community. It prompts conversation. It gets people involved, holds people accountable. The Keys Weekly takes its responsibility seriously. Our owners are raising families in Key West & Marathon. Our writers live in the communities we cover - Key West, Marathon & the Upper Keys. We respect our readers. We question our leaders. We believe in the Florida Keys community. And we like to have a good time."
