IN PICTURES: LADY CANES SOFTBALL OPENS SEASON 6-0

Hurricanes softball is off to a 6-0 start with 83 runs scored and only 20 runs given up so far to start the season. The team is putting up an average of 14 runs a game, but Coach Lesa Bonee said there’s still room for improvement on the offensive side. The Hurricanes best hitting display was seen on March 11, when the Hurricanes dominated the Southridge Spartans, 17-2.  Bonnee credits the team’s fast start to aggressive base running and Madde Langley’s stellar pitching. “She’s pitching better than she’s ever pitched,” Bonee said. “She’s also hitting the ball well. She had two home runs and two doubles.” Bonee said the second half of the season will see tougher opponents. Overall, she said the team has its sights set on the conference title. The Hurricanes beat the South Dade Buccaneers, 8-7 on March 15. The team’s game at Somerset Academy South Homestead was rained out on Thursday.
