With about 500 Key West weddings a year under her belt, Lorri Bolander of Key West Hair and Makeup decided to grow her business. Beside her Simonton Street home base, where she mixes custom foundations for local ladies and does bridal trial runs in house, she recently opened Love Struck in Key West. Love Struck is more than just a bridal boutique, although it caters to wedding parties; it also is filled with perfect gifts for showers, birthdays and more.
“I wanted people to get excited when they walk by here,” she said. “You can’t not smile when you see some of this stuff.”
Bolander handpicked items from silky robes and tasteful lingerie to congratulations cards and bridal jewelry. “There was nowhere down here like this,” she said.
Bollander said her successes are coming from being reasonably priced. She went straight to the sources, wanting to be able to offer “better than online” pricing for Etsy-like items. A crystal headband that can retail for the upwards of $250 online is $80 in her store.
“Everyone knows when you hear the word wedding, prices go up,” she said. “I want to make these pieces attainable.”
In addition to the bridal pieces, her gift-able items in stock are perfect for thank-you or birthday gifts for the loved ones on your lists. She carries a wide assortment of jewelry, non-bridal items from local artisans, and more. Her swimsuits, bearing “Birthday Slay” and “Island Vibes,” and wide-brimmed hats are perfect for a bride, or just a sunny Key West beach day.
The boutique is located at 328 Simonton St., Key West and the phone number is 305-509-7719.
