MARATHON AFTER MIDNIGHT’ FILM MAKES ITS HOMETOWN DEBUT

Lesley Aaron plays Roxanne, the woman who calls the shots from high up in the turret of a fictional bed and breakfast on Grassy Key.

After five long years of work, director Richard Warner and a cast of hundreds had their moment on the big screen when “Marathon After Midnight” premiered on Oct. 31 at Herbies. A crowd of more than 50, socially distanced of course, occupied tables in the backyard and watched the comedy-drama-horror movie unfold on a huge screen. There will be another showing in 2021, stay tuned to the Keys Weekly newspaper for details.

You know who can act? Mike Puto, that’s who. He and retired radio newsman Bob Becker had character roles in “Marathon After Midnight.”
Director and local attorney Richard Warner opened the show with a round of thanks to all who participated and all who came to see the two-hour-plus film.
Jonathan Poortman, right, plays a wonderful, morally bankrupt henchman named Lil’ Peatey. He attended the premiere with Carmen Segura.
