Marathon High School band director Chuck Brooker is marching in the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this week as a member of the Salute to America’s Band Directors marching band. Rehearsing in the ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel in Times Square, he told the Weekly he is “representing the southernmost region” as one of 30 trombonists in the 400-member band. Booker was selected due to a resume highlighted by stints in the Air Force Band and as a trombonist at Disney World. Before the parade, the band will perform taps and ‘Amazing Grace’ in the courtyard of the 9/11 Memorial at the World Trade Center. JASON KOLER/Keys Weekly
