MIAMI BEACH MAN CHARGED FOLLOWING REPORTED ROAD RAGE INCIDENT ON STOCK ISLAND

A 55-year-old Miami Beach man was arrested on Dec. 1 for allegedly threatening to kill three people with a knife during a road rage incident.

The adult male victim was driving to a 12th Avenue residence on Stock Island at approximately 3:35 p.m. when he drove around a slow-moving vehicle driven by James Varner, who then followed the victim to the residence. Varner approached the victim, yelling and head-butted him. A fight ensued.

Two family members of the victim came outside to break up the altercation. Varner went to his vehicle, retrieved a large knife/small machete, and made verbal threats to kill all three people.

Varner was taken to jail by deputies. He’s facing charges for aggravated assault and battery. There were no serious injuries reported.
