Monroe County Emergency Management, in coordination with the National Weather Service in Key West and the Florida Division of Emergency Management, is closely monitoring Subtropical Storm Nicole.

At this time, there are no protective actions in place for the Florida Keys. According to the National Weather Service Key West, there are currently no storm watches or warnings for the Florida Keys.

Within the Florida Keys, there is still a potential for:

  • Very hazardous marine wind and sea conditions, with Small Craft Advisory conditions continuing through at least Thursday night.
  • Windy conditions Tuesday night through Wednesday night.
  • Coastal flooding in addition to king tides, with the greatest potential times Wednesday evening and overnight, and possibly again Thursday evening and overnight. Tide levels of 1.5 to 2.5 feet above mean higher high water are possible, which may produce significant street and yard flooding in areas normally prone to king tide flooding.
  • Squally showers and possibly a few thunderstorms beginning Wednesday and continuing into Thursday night

Monroe County Emergency Management Director Shannon Weiner urges residents and visitors to monitor weather forecasts closely over the next few days and to be prepared should the forecast change.

There should be no major weather issues on Tuesday that would affect election day in the Florida Keys.
