Mote Marine Laboratory has partnered with Captain Hook’s Dive Center in Big Pine to put the tools for coral restoration into our hands. During the new “Reef Revival” program, eco-tourists and citizen-scientists learn about corals and the threats they face before getting hands-on with fragmenting new coral trees.

Stephanie Sirotzke, the Office and Housing Manager at Mote, fragments and hangs staghorn corals in Mote’s underwater nursery near Looe Key. For more information, contact Captain Hook’s Big Pine and Mote in Summerland Key.
