REHABILITATED OSPREY FREED BY FWC OFFICERS WHO CAME TO ITS AID

Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Officer Jessica Diaz and United States Fish and Wildlife Officer Jared Briley recently received a call from dispatch of an injured bird off of Indian Key Fill in Islamorada. Briley and Diaz were able to capture the bird, which was taken to the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center in Tavernier. Rehabilitators there told the officers after an examination and running some tests that it had parasites. The osprey was also underweight. The center was able to nurse the osprey back to health, and after weeks of rehabilitation, Diaz was able to join Florida Keys Wild Bird Center staff in the osprey’s release into the wild.
