TUTU TUESDAY IN KEY WEST – THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE TOWN’S BIGGEST WEEKEND

Tutu Tuesday happens every week at 22 & Co.

Rain and rising COVID numbers made for a subdued Tutu Tuesday this week, but didn’t dampen the spirits of the smaller but colorful crowds in Key West.

This is the week that would have been, had the town’s biggest party — Fantasy Fest — not been canceled months ago.

City Manager Greg Veliz told the city commissioners at their Oct. 20 meeting that additional law enforcement officers will be on duty this weekend, given initial reports anticipating large crowds.

Veliz said city staff will be prepared to close streets to allow for greater social distancing and avoiding packed sidewalks.

But rainy weather and hotel occupancy predictions that aren’t much more than recent weekends may allay the crowd concerns, Veliz said.
