An undercover drug investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a Cutler Bay man on Jan. 16.
According to the sheriff’s office, 68-year-old Jose Braulio Urbay Garcia was handcuffed after he allegedly sold 3 ounces of cocaine to a third party during the investigation. Sheriff’s office special operations detectives set up an operation wherein Urbay Garcia reportedly sold 88.4 grams of cocaine to a third party in Key Largo on Jan. 16 in exchange for $3,000.
Urbay Garcia was pulled over in a Toyota northbound on U.S. 1 shortly after the transaction and the $3,000 in law enforcement money was found in his possession. He was arrested and charged with conspiracy and trafficking cocaine. Urbay Garcia also has several additional warrants from previous cocaine sales.
His arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. at the Plantation Key Courthouse.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration assisted in the case.
