“Emmett became the first MHS golfer to make regionals last season, and he has picked back up where he was.” – Lance Martin, Marathon athletic director

Marathon sophomore Emmett Merryman was twice the golfer to beat last week, firing matching rounds of 38 to earn back-to-back medalist honors. Merryman first shot a 38 at Ocean Reef Club on Sept. 30, finishing two over par and ahead of the field, then followed it with another 38 the next day at Redland Golf & Country Club to claim his second win in as many days.

Merryman doesn’t put the clubs away when the high school season ends. The sophomore works on his game year-round, steadily improving in a sport he loves.

“He has been consistent with his scoring all season and leading the way for MHS,” Marathon athletic director Lance Martin said.

For his strong and consistent gameplay, Marathon’s Emmett Merryman is the Keys Weekly Athlete of the Week.
