Anglers from as far as Iowa across the state competed in the Annual 15th Leon Shell Memorial Sailfish Tournament, raising $12,000 for Hospice and VNA of the Florida Keys. Over the past fifteen years the tournament has generated nearly $200,000.

Chartered out of Islamorada, Tiki landed the most sailfish and two of the vessels anglers, father and daughter, were crowned Top Angler and Runner Up.

The total cash prizes amounted to $11,000 and many of the participants scored valuable raffle prizes from local donors.

“This is a great tournament to run,” said tournament director Matt Anthony. “From the local and national sponsors and donors right down to our relationship with Hospice/VNA everyone really comes together for a worthy cause.”
