On Aug. 27, the nonprofit Special Compass brought 11 disabled Broward County residents to cross the finish line at the Key Largo triathlon. Special Compass lodged them over night and gave them a fun, social dinner at Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill. Inclusion was the theme. Volunteer athletes throughout the Tri-County have their fitness to the differently-abled to experience the ocean during the swim, the bicycle ride and run portions of the challenging triathlon. All 11 crossed the finish-line with smiles and received finisher medals. Visit www.SpecialCompass.org to learn more.
