In recognition of Father’s Day on June 20, the Keys Weekly spoke to several loved ones to hear about the most important men in their lives.

Capt. Rich Stanczyk Jr. with Richard Stanczyk Sr., circa 1985. CONTRIBUTED

He’s always taken care of people around him in his life. Some of my fondest memories include many afternoons catching bonefish with my dad with my brother or other friends. What my dad instilled in me was to always be true to yourself. — Richard Stanczyk Jr.

What I love most about my dad is he gives really good hugs — Lincoln. My fondest memory with my dad is when I caught my first shark. He taught me how to fish. — Bruce.
I love you dad! Happy Father’s Day. — Brayley

PJ Cummings Sr. with children, PJ Jr., Finley and Levi. CONTRIBUTED

What we love most about our dad is he makes us laugh. We like going on the boat with him, riding on the golf cart, playing and teaching us how to play baseball. He’s taught us to love and always take care of your brothers. To be kind. We love you so much Daddy and thank you for taking care of us. — PJ Jr., Finley and Levi

Steve Franco with children Julia, Isabelle, Zelda and Nick. CONTRIBUTED

As his wife I love what a loving and supportive father he is to 4 our children. Julia loves his snuggles on the couch and that she can feel comfortable telling him anything, while Isabelle loves his home cooking and wine education. Zelda loves how he is always there when she gets hurt and hugs, kisses, and snuggles her and last but not least Nick loves “that he’s my dad, he coaches my baseball and lets me play video games.” Steve has shaped our lives in more ways than imagined. He is the backbone of our family and the strong common thread that holds us together with love, patience and wisdom. — Kelly Franco, wife

Jim Wemett with daughter, Whitney. CONTRIBUTED

He supports me no matter where I go or what I choose to do in life — no matter how many times I change things up. From quitting unfulfilling jobs to moving across the country (multiple times), he does not bat an eye and has been my biggest supporter telling anyone who will listen about my adventures or pulling out his phone to show pictures. When he moved to Florida recently, he made sure to get the scuba diving license plate so he could talk to people about his daughter scuba diving in the Keys — Whitney
