Marathon hosted Key West in a basketball matchup on Jan. 29. The 5-8 Key West High School Conchs were held to just 4 points in the first quarter but opened up in the second half, winning the game 46-28. “We wanted to keep the score low and we did that,” said Marathon coach Kevin Freeman. “They turned up the pressure and forced some turnovers, but overall I was happy with our performance and effort.” Both teams have away games Feb. 5, with Marathon traveling to play Coral Shores and Key West traveling to Ransom Everglades.
