A competition is underway among U.S. cities to determine the most “water-wise.”

The Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation runs during April. “My Water Pledge” is a friendly competition that has mayors nationwide challenging their residents to conserve water, energy and other natural resources on behalf of their city through a series of informative, easy-to-use pledges online.

Mayor Buddy Pinder

Mayor Buddy Pinder endorses the Water Conservation Challenge and encourages all residents to participate.

“I encourage everyone in Islamorada to make water-friendly lifestyle changes,” he said. “Take the challenge today and commit to protecting and conserving our precious natural resources.”

Through www.mywaterpledge.com, residents can make a series of online pledges to reduce your impact on the environment. By pledging to make changes to decrease water and energy use and reduce pollution for one year, you should see savings in your water and electricity bills.
