MHS CHAMPIONS FOR CHANGE TAKE ON D.C.

From Jan. 31 to Feb. 3, seven members of the Marathon High School Champions for Change, five of whom serve as Monroe County Coalition Youth Leaders, attended Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C.. They had the opportunity to present the MHS Red Ribbon Week Project during the opening reception and met with aides for Rep. Carlos Jimenez and Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott to discuss the prevention needs facing Monroe County and why they are passionate about prevention. They also spent time in sessions conducting strategic planning to make positive change in their school and community and learning about current trends in drug and alcohol prevention.
